Tinubu Appoints Ex-NAF Chief As Military Pensions Board Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (retd.) as the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, effective December 1, 2025, Very Nigerian reports.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, the appointment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the administration of military pensions.

 

He said Tinubu urged the new chairman to uphold integrity, demonstrate patriotism, and apply his financial expertise to enhance the welfare of military retirees.

 

The statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (retd) from Borno State as Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, effective 1 December 2025.

 

“The appointment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency in military pension administration.

 

“President Tinubu charges the new Chairman to uphold integrity, demonstrate patriotism, and deploy his financial expertise to improve the welfare of military veterans.”

 

Adamu, from Borno State, is a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force and a financial specialist.

 

He previously served as Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, and Principal Staff Officer, Finance, at the Air Warfare Centre. He also commanded the 081 Pay and Accounting Group.

 

His other roles include Director of Finance at NAF Headquarters and Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited and its group of companies.

 

He later served as Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
