Six States With Highest Case Of Malpractice In 2025 UTME (Full List)

The body responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has revealed the six states with the highest cases of malpractice in the just-concluded examinations.

While speaking during a press briefing over the weekend, JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, noted that Lagos and Anambra states recorded the highest cases of examination malpractice.

He disclosed that 80 examination malpractice suspects across different states are currently being interrogated.

From this figure, Anambra tops the chart with 14 arrests, while Lagos follows with nine arrests.

The registrar further noted that 13 incidents of impersonation and one case of mismatched photographs were recorded in Anambra.

The examination malpractice suspects arrested in Lagos were apprehended for impersonation, spying, and illegal possession of mobile phones during the exam.

Delta, Kano, Kaduna, and Rivers recorded 8, 7, and 6 cases of impersonation and phone possession during the exam.

Oloyede also revealed that applicants developed new fraud techniques during the registration and examination phases of the UTME.

Some of these new fraud techniques, according to him, include biometric manipulation, use of combined thumbprints between candidates and impersonators, double registration, and attempts to substitute oneself with an impersonator.

He added that these were reportedly done in collusion with some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

A blind candidate hired a blind undergraduate to sit the exam on his behalf.
