In the early hours of Tuesday, December 2, terrorists launched a deadly ambush on traders travelling from Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State to Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State for the popular Ebu Market Day.

SaharaReporters gathered that the attackers struck along the Koro–Egbe route, intercepting vehicles carrying traders on their routine weekly journey to the border community market.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of those kidnapped remains unknown.
The attack has further heightened fear among residents in Kwara–Kogi border communities, who say the route has increasingly come under criminal assaults despite repeated alerts to authorities.
Previously, SaharaReporters reported that tension erupted again on the Oshokoshoko–Obajana highway in Kogi State after terrorists launched another brazen attack on the increasingly dangerous corridor, leaving travellers stranded for hours as gunmen reportedly took control of the route.
In a video seen by SaharaReporters, dozens of commuters were seen stuck on the road, their vehicles parked in long queues as they awaited rescue amid fears of ongoing gunfire between security operatives and the attackers.
A distressed traveller filming the scene narrated the ordeal, pleading for urgent intervention.
“Everybody, see what is happening here. This is Oshoko Shoko in Kogi State between Kabba and Obajana. We are all stuck here,” he said, showing rows of stationary vehicles.
“We have been here for more than three hours. Kidnappers are taking over the road. We don’t know what to do… everywhere is on fire. Soldiers and these bandits are staging fire presently. Honestly, everywhere is stuck.”
The visibly shaken commuter continued calling for help, saying, “Nigeria, please come and save us here. We are in trouble. Everybody parked, nobody is moving. Kidnappers are taking over the road. Please, presently, we are here.”
